Teun Koopmeiners Scouting Report - A Roaming Playmaker from Midfield

Among the midfielders linked with Liverpool of late, Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners is one of them. A few days ago, the Dutch international was asked about the interest in him from the Reds. He gave an expected answer but did not rule out the possibility of a move to Anfield.

Koopmeiners arrived in Italy in 2021 from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar. He is a versatile midfield player who can operate in multiple positions. At Alkmaar, he played 38 games as a centre-back as well. 

The 24-year-old’s contract with Atalanta lasts until the summer of 2025. As per CIES observatory, he is valued around €50m.

Teun Koopmeiners is a creative central midfielder who likes to impact games in the opposition half, be it through goals or assists. For Atalanta, he generally plays in a midfield pivot in front of a back three, with a freedom to make runs beyond the forward line and cause trouble to the opposition defenders.

In 17 appearances this season, the 24-year-old has scored five goals and assisted twice. He is averaging 1.7 shots per 90 and 0.16 expected assists per 90. He works hard off the ball as well, helping the forward line in pressing high, being good in 1-v-1 defensive duels, and picking up good defensive positioning.
