João Gomes has been linked with Liverpool since the summer. The 21-year-old has been one of the best midfielders in the Brazil Serie A in the 2022 season. Hence, there are clubs other than the Reds in Europe taking a close look at him as well, including European champions Real Madrid.

Gomes is currently playing for Flamengo, a club where he played his youth football before making his senior debut in 2020. Positionally, he can operate in multiple positions across the central midfield, chiefly on the defensive or deep-lying side.
